Rio Architects named finalist in two categories at the 2026 Education Property Awards
We’re pleased to be shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 Education Property Awards, an event that recognises projects, organisations and individuals in the education sector.
The ceremony will take place on February 11th at the Marriott Grosvenor Square in London.
We’ve been recognised in the Architectural Practice of the Year category, selected alongside a highly competitive field of practices, acknowledging our work with universities, schools, colleges, and the communities they serve.
Additionally, Watton Mount and Coach House, the new home for NPTC Group of Colleges’ Creative Arts and Digital Industries, Hairdressing, Barbering, and Applied Therapies facilities, has been shortlisted for Higher Education Project of the Year. This recognition highlights our commitment to delivering award-winning educational designs.
Our projects are successful through our comprehensive stakeholder-led approach, and Watton Mount and Coach House are great examples of this. Working with listed buildings presented unique challenges for our heritage team, undertaking early and ongoing engagement with stakeholders essential. Working collaboratively with the whole team to see that the new classrooms and creative spaces would complement the historic setting, producing an environment suitable for the people who use it.
The previously outdated and unused spaces have now been converted into new, modern facilities for the college’s now relocated departments. The design combines a contemporary feel with the buildings’ historic character, while the use of local and sustainable materials improves the building’s performance and supports long-term sustainability.
We’re proud to continue working with NPTC Group of Colleges and look forward to the completion of the next part of its Brecon Town Centre Campus.
