Landmark Canary Wharf co-living tower passes gateway 2 approval
Having led the architectural design up to RIBA stage 3 and secured planning permission for the 46-storey tower in 2022, which aims to provide the best-in-class co-living brand, Rio Architects is pleased to see the co-living Marsh Wall scheme granted construction approval by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).
This significant milestone reflects the rigour of the design process and the collaborative commitment to meeting the highest standards of safety, compliance and buildability.
56 Marsh Wall is a 46-storey co-living building in Canary Wharf, London. It will contain 805 co-living studio apartments, a meaningful amenity offering that includes commercial-sized gyms, spa and wellness areas, along with living, dining and working amenity strategically positioned throughout. Co-living enables a balanced and varied lifestyle that is easily both accessible and affordable, with benefits such as cost and time savings, including increased psychological well-being.
The gateway 2 approval marks an important milestone in the project’s delivery, and we are pleased to see it progress to the next stage.
Rio is delighted to have led the architectural design and secured planning consent for this landmark co-living development in London. The scheme marks a considered progression in high-density urban living, carefully balancing community, amenity and architectural quality, and reflects the level of ambition that can be realised within London’s planning framework through rigorous design and collaborative engagement.”
