The architectural approach emerged from a detailed analysis of the surrounding environment, the historical context and the wider city context. The development is built on a previously underutilised site in the city centre and secures the future of the site whilst regenerating the immediate area and beyond.
The study of tall buildings policy and context within the city of Cardiff has widely informed the design process, influencing siting, massing, façade treatment, the top of the tower and crucially, the connection the building has with the public realm.
Robust high-quality cladding materials create a simply detailed, crisp façade aesthetic which, whilst appearing varied, is simple in concept with minimal panel sizes and designed to be erected in a unitised construction system.
The building completed in September 2018.
