As part of their business and marketing strategy for London, ALUK Ltd was looking to create a base which would provide flexibility to fulfil a number of objectives. The primary purpose was to provide a showroom for ALUK window and curtain walling products. However, ALUK were keen that the space did not feel like a ‘window showroom’ but wanted to create more of a café style environment.
Working with BDG Workfutures, Rio developed a design which provided offices, meeting rooms, a coffee servery area and event spaces using ALUK products to define and enclose the separate functions and spaces. Some of the products were designed to be movable, enabling maximum flexibility. In this approach, the ALUK products became part of the fabric of the building, their display much subtler and interaction with them more natural.
Attention to detail and quality of finish were of heightened importance. As the products were the fabric of the building it was extremely important that these were presented in the best possible light.
